A mobile wireless cart complete with 24 high-performance laptops and a DVD/CD-write player is available for use in the Science Building to accommodate occasional needs for a computer-equipped classroom.
As this cart is a resource shared by Adelphi faculty, it is not meant to satisfy the technical needs of one course for a complete semester of sessions. Instead it affords a professor and his/her students the opportunity to demonstrate hands-on computer and Internet technology when no computer lab has vacancies.
Please read these guidelines if you are interested in reserving the wireless cart for your class instruction.

Some classrooms have a podium and are equipped with a computer, projector, and VCR/DVD players. There are also several tiered lecture halls equipped with VCR/CD/DVD players, Elmo, centrally managed projectors, and data ports.
Other rooms require minimal operation and support. Although they do not have the podium or PC, these rooms provide multiple plug-and-play connections for laptops, projectors, and other equipment, and have the capability to access the Internet, and stream video and audio, and play PowerPoint presentations.

SMART Technologies
SMART Boards use a proprietary software called "Notebook" which is used for content creation and display on a real SMART Board. (The 3M Boards do not use this software.)
The SMART Board interactive whiteboard is a touch-sensitive display that connects to your computer and digital projector. Using a finger, you can control computer applications, write notes, pull up charts and images, search the Internet, play videos and save your work.
The latest models come with a Touch Recognition feature, which allows you to switch modes automatically. You can write with a pen, erase with your palm and move objects with your finger without having to access other tools, buttons or on-screen menus.
SMART Notebook software sets the standard for creating, delivering and managing interactive lessons within a single application. All your lesson materials are right at your fingertips. With a rich set of design and delivery features and a multitude of digital resources, SMART Notebook software connects you to a full system of content, tools and support to help you create high-impact lessons that bring learning to life.
Please note: The SMART Boards CANNOT be used as dry-erase boards.
Visit the FCPE site for information on downloading SMART Notebook software.
