Many valuable resources are available to faculty for the development of course design and enhancing curriculum.
To learn more about any of these tools, please visit the Faculty Center for Professional Excellence Web site

Full-time faculty members are encouraged to set up an online faculty profile that highlights their experience, research interests, and curriculum. It is vital to keep your profile up to date since it is used by students, as well as administration, the Office of Public Affairs, and the media to identify specialists and spokespersons.

Audio Recording and Podcasting
Professors can borrow easy-to-use digital audio equipment from the FCPE to record lectures, events, interviews, or class assignments. The FCPE will assist in determining the best distribution method, such as podcasting, Blackboard, etc.
Video Taping of Classes/Events
This service is offered by the FCPE during regular hours of operation. Reservations need to be made with the FCPE at least two weeks in advance.
Videoconferencing
Two large classrooms and two FCPE rooms in Garden City, plus one classroom each in the Manhattan and Hauppauge Centers are equipped with a videoconferencing system. The sites can connect to each other and to any TCP/IP enabled site in the world. For training and a reservation, contact the FCPE.

Turnitin
An electronic service that acts as an antiplagiarism tool for professors, Turnitin analyzes student papers and produces a customized originality report. Turnitin searches through billions of documents on the Internet and in online databases, and also compares student papers to ones previously submitted to Turnitin.
Respondus
Allows faculty to create and manage exams online, then print and/or publish them to Blackboard. Completed exam grades are viewed in Blackboard’s grade book. Exams created in a word processor can also be imported into Respondus.
StudyMate
Use templates to create online Flash-based study aides and trivia games to help students practice questions based on exam material. Existing content from Respondus, MS Word, and other formats can be imported. Student can view with any Web browser or in Blackboard according to the instructor's preference.
